  • About The Role

  • As a Supporting People on Probation Navigator, you’ll join our Essex team and walk alongside individuals as they rebuild their lives, strengthen their relationships, and move towards a crime-free future. You’ll help People on Probation complete their supervision successfully, overcome social and emotional barriers, and reconnect with their families, communities and wider support networks.

A typical day could include facilitating a group music session, checking in on a community project, meeting someone ahead of their release from prison, supporting someone in family crisis, or even ending the day with the winning shot in the afternoon football session. It’s varied, hands-on work where every contact matters.

    What you’ll be doing

    • Supporting adults to understand and improve their relationships, wellbeing, lifestyle and social circumstances
    • Delivering 1:1 and group interventions designed to reduce reoffending
    • Working closely with Probation Practitioners to agree Action Plans linked to sentence requirements
    • Keeping clear, accurate records and maintaining high safeguarding standards
    • Attending probation offices and community spaces across Southend, Chelmsford, Layndon, Colchester and Harlow

This is a primarily in-person role, with occasional virtual delivery to meet service user needs. Some evening work is required, and a full UK driving licence is desirable due to regular travel between sites.

    Who we’re looking for

You might come from the justice sector, psychology, counselling, education, social care, health, social prescribing, or you might bring valuable lived or transferable experience from another background. What matters most is that you:

    • Believe people can change and live fulfilling lives
    • Are skilled at building rapport and working collaboratively
    • Communicate well and keep accurate records
    • Work confidently both independently and within a team
    • Bring creativity, flexibility and a commitment to doing meaningful work

If you’re motivated, compassionate and passionate about helping people move forward, we’d love to hear from you.

Please see attached Job Description for full details.
