  • About The Role

  •  We’re Hiring: Family Support Practitioner

Are you passionate about supporting families, strengthening relationships, and helping people build positive futures? Join us as a Family Support Practitioner, where you’ll play a vital role in both prison and community settings, delivering life-changing support to clients and their families.

This role is primarily based within the prison setting; however, as your family support work with prisoners develops, you will also deliver 1:1 sessions remotely from home via online platforms.

As a Family Support Practitioner, you will:

    • Provide specialist 1:1 and group interventions for clients and family members.
    • Work in partnership with Forward colleagues and external agencies to deliver holistic care and support.
    • Help clients recognise healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, build positive connections, and understand how relationships impact addiction, offending, mental health, and recovery.
    • Directly support families and affected others to improve their own wellbeing and empower them to support their loved ones.
    • Occasionally work with children and young people, promoting whole family recovery and rehabilitation.

    What We’re Looking For

    You will bring:

    • Experience supporting families affected by addiction, offending, and/or mental health challenges.
    • Experience working directly with family members/affected others and facilitating family meetings.
    • Strong background in group facilitation and interventions.
    • A flexible and adaptable approach to meet evolving service needs.
    • A positive, solution-focused attitude with the ability to quickly identify key issues.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients.
    • Understanding of the voluntary sector, safeguarding (adults and children/young people), and a strong commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion
** Please note all offers of employment are subject to both Prison Service Vetting and an Enhanced DBS check. No confirmed start date will be provided until these checks have been fully completed and cleared.**
