Position: Nurse Manager / Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP)

Role Responsibilities
As our Nurse Manager / Non-Medical Prescriber, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team to provide expert clinical leadership and ensure safe, effective treatment for individuals on their recovery journey.
Please note this role is 28 hour contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and formulate tailored treatment plans.
- Prescribe independently within agreed protocols for substance misuse and associated health needs.
- Lead on harm reduction strategies and ensure alignment with national guidelines.
- Support and mentor nursing staff to maintain high standards of care.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, external agencies, and service users to ensure holistic care.
- Contribute to clinical governance and continuous service improvement.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a candidate with the skills knowledge and experience below
- Registered Nurse with active NMC registration.
- Qualified Non-Medical Prescriber (V300).
- Experience in substance misuse, mental health, or related healthcare fields.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and quality care.
- 3 years post-registration experience
- 1 year prescribing experience within Substance Misuse Services
- Experience of managing multidisciplinary staff
- Evidence of personal development within the Substance Misuse field
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and act accordingly if concerns present themselves
- A strong and proven understanding of harm reduction and health promotion strategies
- Demonstrate the capability to carry out administrative responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain accurate patient records within the standards required locally, the Forward Trust and NMC
- Understand the different roles within a multidisciplinary team and be able to work effectively within this
- Leadership skills (motivating, use of initiative, change management)
- Experience working within a recovery model
- Ability to lead and develop a service
- Ability to lead and facilitate decision-making processes
- Organisational skills
- Understanding of relapse prevention model
- Ability to work in partnership with other agencies
- Knowledge and ability to comply with the NMC Code of Conduct
- Knowledge and an awareness of health issues related to Substance Misuse
- Flexible approach to work
- Ability to travel to other sites
- Committed approach to continuous professional development and the revalidation process
