We are looking for a committed and motivated Drug & Alcohol Recovery Worker to join our team. Working within an integrated healthcare framework, you will support adults (18+) who are experiencing problems with drugs and/or alcohol.
Our services are designed to deliver client-centred, evidence-based interventions that combine both harm reduction and abstinence approaches, depending on individual needs. You will manage a caseload, provide structured 1:1 and group interventions, deliver care plans, and ensure continuity of care through close collaboration with partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload, carrying out assessments, risk management, and SMART care planning
- Deliver structured 1:1 interventions, group sessions, and treatment programmes
- Provide appropriate harm reduction advice and guidance
- Support clients in developing recovery plans tailored to their needs
- Work collaboratively with housing, healthcare, probation, employment, and other services to ensure through-care and integrated support
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across all aspects of service delivery
- Contribute to service and commissioner targets, with a focus on measurable recovery outcomes
- Work flexibly, including some evenings/weekends and occasional travel to other projects to ensure continuity of care
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working in substance misuse services
- Experience in assessments, risk management, and SMART care planning
- Skilled in delivering structured interventions and facilitating groups
- Proficient in motivational interviewing (1:1 and group settings)
- Strong IT and record-keeping skills
- Understanding of holistic care, continuity of care, and community services
- Experience promoting equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
Knowledge Required
- Strong understanding of issues faced by substance misusers
- Knowledge of the Recovery Agenda
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and responsibilities
Qualifications
Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Knowledge and commitment to the 12-step recovery process
- Understanding of community support services and the criminal justice sector
- Lived experience of addiction or imprisonment (with at least 3 years’ clean time or 5 years since release, where applicable)
- Previous experience in a community or prison setting
- Experience utilising clinical supervision
- Knowledge of NHS health and wellbeing outcomes
- Additional qualifications in substance misuse
