About the Role
As a Team Leader, you will play a key role in leading and supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred drug and alcohol treatment services within a community-based setting. Working with adults aged 18 and over, you will help individuals affected by substance misuse to make positive, sustainable changes to their lives through a combination of clinical, psychosocial and wellbeing interventions.
You will oversee a caseload, ensuring service users receive tailored support that reflects their individual needs and goals. This will include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing SMART care plans, providing harm reduction advice and delivering structured one-to-one and group interventions, including treatment programmes. You may also be required to undertake urine and oral swab testing to support clinical treatment.
Working collaboratively with the Regional Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the service meets key performance indicators (KPIs), commissioner requirements, outcome targets and relevant Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards. You will also provide supervision, guidance and training to practitioners, supporting their professional development and ensuring interventions are delivered safely, effectively and consistently.
Building strong partnerships with external agencies, including GPs, hospitals, mental health services, housing providers, employment services, probation, police and social services, will be essential to ensuring joined-up care and positive outcomes for service users.
This is an opportunity to combine your substance misuse expertise, leadership skills and commitment to recovery to make a meaningful difference to individuals and the wider community.
The role requires flexibility to meet the needs of the service, which may include evening or weekend working and, with reasonable notice, travel to other local projects to maintain continuity of care.
About You
You are an experienced and motivated professional with a background in community-based substance misuse services and the confidence to lead, support and develop a team. You bring a positive, solution-focused approach to challenges, can identify priorities quickly and are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
You understand the complex needs of people affected by drug and alcohol use and have experience of applying a range of psychosocial interventions, motivational interviewing techniques and harm reduction approaches. You are confident in carrying out comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing SMART care plans, and delivering structured interventions in both one-to-one and group settings.
As a supportive and effective leader, you can share your knowledge and expertise with practitioners, peer mentors, volunteers and apprentices, helping others develop their skills and maintain high standards of practice. You understand the importance of effective supervision, staff development and performance management in achieving positive outcomes for service users.
You are also confident using IT systems to support case management, maintain accurate records and monitor progress against individual and service-wide objectives. With strong communication and partnership-working skills, you can build productive relationships with colleagues and external agencies to ensure service users receive coordinated, holistic support.
Above all, you are passionate about helping people make lasting changes, improving their health and wellbeing, and supporting them to build a positive future.
